Fula song

Ethnomusicological sound recording made by Cootje van Oven. Fula song accompanied by one tambe, one guitar with capo tasto and amplifier. The meaning of the song is "If a man wants another man's property, he will lost his head". The singer, who has been all over the country, is the specific singer/dancer for the Paramount Chief of Mambolo Chiefdom, also in the Kambia District. While singing she does make dance-like movements and the players really do the same. The tambe is a transverse flute. There is no absolute certainty about the number of finger holes in this particular tambe, but three is likely. The instrument is 28" long. The guitar is played melodically.
