Draw for Warri Counters

This is a wooden draw, used for storing counters for playing Warri. Warri is a board game, variants of which are played all over Africa. Counters are usually made out of seeds or dried beans, but have also been known to be bullets. Warri is thought to have been originally played by warriors to relax after fighting battles as other forms of entertainment, such as dancing, would make too much noise and might give them away. The draw comes inserted into a very elaborate Warri board from the British Museum, its number is 1950 15 1 1a.
