Photographic Print
Black and white photographic print showing a woman wearing hojo: a mixture of white clay and animal fat used as protective medicine and a cosmetic, particularly during initiation onto the Bundu or Sande societies. This photo is part of a collection from an album put together by William Vivian in 1889; Vivian was a Missionary with the United Methodist Free Churches, and is likely to have taken the photographs himself.
