Carved Wooden Bowl
A very unusual carving of a lidded wooden bowl fitted into an oblong pedestal. The bowl lid is topped with a bird in relief, and is locked with an imitation padlock. The pedestal has wooden carved bosses around the sides. Bill Hart has suggested that the pedestal may be a later addition, and the bowl is a lone survivor of a much earlier class of ornamented lidded bowls. He suggests that these bowls may have been echoed in the shape of Sapi-Portuguese saltcellars (See Hart 2007, for more information).
