Historical wax cylinder recording made by Northcote Whitridge Thomas, a British government anthropologist who conducted field research in Sierra Leone in 1914-15. NWT641 (m on cylinder rim; [male sign] L [female sign] on lid). 1. Announcement: Record 6...1, Timne, Kamalu, May 19th 1914. 2. Ref. tone. 3. Female vocal group with male leader, accompanied by percussion. Good quality recording. C51/3002 (better quality) is the master, C51/3003 is a duplicate.
