Historical wax cylinder recording made by Northcote Whitridge Thomas, a British government anthropologist who conducted field research in Sierra Leone in 1914-15. NWT720 (?m on cylinder rim). 1. Announcement: Record number 720, [indecipherable], February 24th 1915. 2. Ref tone. 3. Female vocal group with leader accompanied by percussion, probably in the Mende language. Good quality recording. C51/3154 (better quality) is the master, C51/3155 is a duplicate.
