Plaited Mourning Headdress

A plaited headdress made from yellow circlets of plaited grass, or fibre string, with knots at regular intervals. Alldridge noted that it was worn by Mende women in mourning. More information can be found in The Sherbro and its Hinterland, 1901, page 119.
