Alldridge F.R.C.S. with the caption: ‘The late chief Kai Lundu, of Luawa Country, Upper Mendi, West Africa.’ Kai Londo, who died in 1895, was a famous warrior and the chief of Luawa, an extensive territory on what became Sierra Leone’s eastern border with Liberia. The town of Kailahun (‘Kai’s town’) is named after him. Published as Figure 60 in T. J. Alldridge, 1901, The Sherbro and Its Hinterland (London: Macmillan).
