Mende song
Ethnomusicological sound recording made by Cootje van Oven. Mende (Gola) traditional song accompanied by a concertina. The meaning of the song is: "I am looking for a friend who has been missing for quite a long time - somewhere he lives". The people of Zimmi are Gola on the whole, but the spoken language there is Mende. Thus this Gola musician also sings in Mende. The concertina is button played and has a range of 2.5 octaves. It is pictured in the photograph.
