Gunubri Lute
A gunubri , or lute. It is composed of a rectangular box with wooden sides and decorated with metal studs and shells. Leather is stretched over the sides of the box, and it is played by plucking strings, attached to a cylindrical wooden handle. Though the Glasgow Museum catalogue notes that the lute originated in Sierra Leone, it does not resemble any known Sierra Leonean instruments.
