Historical wax cylinder recording made by Northcote Whitridge Thomas, a British government anthropologist who conducted field research in Sierra Leone in 1914-15. NWT631 (635 [sic] NWT on rim; Mendi [male sign] on lid). 1. Announcement: Record 631, Mende, [indecipherable] April 16th 1914. 2. Ref tone. 3-4. Unaccompanied male vocal group with leader.
